LOCAL 303 ARBITRATION UPDATE
As posted in Branch President Bill Roux August Newsletter the Christmas annex grievance
was settled by our Vice President Juan Torres. Once again, we thank him for his dedication.
The settlement was $100,000.00 dollars and Bill and I have been diligently working on a fair
and equitable way of informing the Postal Service of how it should be distributed. It is not
enough money to be able to compensate each mail handler on the ODL at the 7/12 level.
Currently we are considering compensating the ODL up to the total hours worked by the
ODL mail handler with the most hours on each tour. In other words, if on T1 the mail handler
with the most hours worked 100 hours all ODL mail handlers would be compensated up to
100 hours. The mail handler with the 100 hours would not be compensated.
In order to be fair and not create undo enrichment, a mail handler who never work an off
day will not be compensated for a off day and the same goes for a mail handler who only
works 2 hours OT they won't be compensated for 4 hours. If you were on extended leave or
204b during the time frame of the grievance you will not be compensated.
All ODL mail handlers this announcement is to inform you of the process that will take place.
This is the only fair way to evenly compensate ODL mail handlers for their loss.
I am open for suggestions on other distribution means from all members. If you have any questions or
want to discuss the process in more detail email me at (local303prez@att.net) with your
questions and phone number, this will allow me to be able to give you a specific answer to
your question. If you have particular time or day for the phone call please state so.
If emailing creates an inconvenience call me at the Local Office (323) 757-0161
Thank You
